About
The purpose of this site is to provide difficult-to-find information and news about voluntary professional certification that is generally unknown, suppressed, or controversial. Sources for this site will come from article submissions, news releases, and reader feedback. The goal is to seek the truth by discussing issues, voicing opinions, challenging assumptions, and identifying misleading and over-hyped information. The focus is to be on voluntary professional certification rather than on licensing. Unlike licenses or de facto licenses (certifications that function as licenses), voluntary professional certifications are not a requirement for employment or for engaging in other business activities.
Like credentialing programs in general, the voluntary certification industry continues to experience high growth; at the same time, there is a lack of unbiased information about the credentials produce by them. Available information is often limited or consists of hearsay, personal opinions, or hype. This site was created to address this lack of information and to serve as a vehicle to allow its readers to stay informed, to question, and to discuss voluntary certification issues. To further address its goals, this site has developed a discussion forum, CertdB – Cert Discussion Forum, as an extension of this site to allow readers to more effectively communicate their ideas, knowledge, and experiences.
Although the intention of this site is to present information in an factual manner, unrestricted discussion can often lead to disagreement, criticism, or favoritism. As a result, this site is not responsible for any of the comments made by its readers or of the content of the articles submitted to it.
